Japan supports modernization of Moldova's primary healthcare institutions

Chisinau, Nov. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Ambassador of Japan to Moldova Yamada Yoichiro jointly with director of the Râșcani Territorial Medical Association of Chisinau Valentina Pîslaru signed today a grant contract of 44,663 US dollars, financed by the Government of Japan as part of Kusanone Program.
Equipment and accessories for colposcopy will be purchased from the assistance received. "The equipment is necessary for the performance of cervical screening services and other gynecological investigations within the Diagnostic Consultative Center in the Râșcani sector. Through this project, the Government of Japan supports the efforts of public authorities in the prevention of cervical cancer, the detection of the disease in early stages and the operative provision of the necessary treatment", the Embassy of Japan said.
The Japanese ambassador thanked Moldovan healthcare professionals for their tireless work for the good of society, affirming that the Government of Japan will continue to work with the Republic of Moldova on accession to the European Union, Yamada Yoichiro said.
The Kusanone program was launched in Moldova in 2008. So far, Japan has provided grant funding of 7.3 million USD for 87 projects (excluding the new project) in the health, education and public utilities.
