Germany to support project on development of rural regions of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 November /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) today signed a memorandum of understanding with German Sparkassenstiftung Moldova (GSM), for cooperation within the project, Access to financing for a sustainable and adaptable to climate development of rural regions of Moldova.

The project’s goal is to consolidate the potential of development of the rural regions from Moldova through backing a proper bid of financial services, especially for investments in measures of adaptation to climate, as well as the improvement of the competences of farmers and small and medium-sized agricultural enterprises (IMM).

„Thus, the small and medium-sized farmers, as well as other entrepreneurs from the rural areas will have access to financial services, which will allow them making investments in the sustainable resilience  to climate changes. The banks, non-banking financial institutions and insurance companies will be able to provide personalized products and services for agricultural enterprises (micro-, small, medium-sized),’’ MAIA said.     

The project also sees that the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry will benefit from support in the development of an online platform for submitting the files related to all subsidization mechanisms, within the Agency of Intervention and Payments for Agriculture.

The project and the cooperation are financed by the government of Germany, through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
