Teachers' salaries likely to increase by 15% from 1 January

Chisinau, Nov. 29 /MOLDPRES/- Government proposes to increase teachers' salaries by 15% from 1 January. Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) made the statement today.

The reference value for teachers is to be increased from 2,000 to 2,300 lei.

The MEC said that the salary increases for teachers are higher than those proposed for other categories of employees.

In October 2023, the government managed to identify the necessary resources for one-off payment of five thousand lei for all teaching staff and three thousand lei for non-teaching staff, payments that are being paid. The total number of beneficiaries amounts to 102 thousand people. 450 million lei (22.5 million euros) have been earmarked to this end.

At the same time, in the last months, the ministry allocated about 10 million lei for training teaching staff.
