PHOTO National Bank of Moldova puts into circulation new commemorative coins

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - The National Bank of Moldova   (BNM) has put into circulation five commemorative coins as payment means and on numismatic purposes.   

Thus, the Personalities series was completed with two commemorative coins made of silver with nominal value of 50 lei and a number of 250 copies. The first coin is dedicated to the 100th birthday anniversary of Igor Vieru – painter, drawer, teacher, scene painter. The second coin is dedicated to the marking of the 150th birthday anniversary of Alexei Sciusev – architect, historian and art theoretician, one of the best modernist architects, known for his project inspired from religious subjects, among which the Holy Trinity church from the Cuhurestii de Sus village and for a string of buildings included in the general plan on reconstruction of the Chisinau city.     

The other three coins will complete the series, The Others. One of them is, The World of Bees. The coin has a coloured design, is made of silver, has a nominal value of 50 lei and a number of 500 copies. Another two coins are dedicated to the anniversary of the national currency – the Moldovan leu, introduced into circulation on 29 November 1993. The coin, with a nominal value of 100 lei, is made of gold and has an initial number of 300 copies and the coin with a nominal value of 50 lei is made of silver and has an initial number of 500 copies. These coins will be able to be issued additionally till the overall number of copies for each coin will reach 5,000.    

The commemorative coins are packed in capsules of transparent methacrylate and in boxes of presentation, and are accompanied by certificates of authenticity with a QR code, which, upon scanning, redirects to the webpage of the National Bank with the information about each coin.
