Moldovan president's message on Romania's National Day

Chisinau, Dec. 1 /MOLDPRES/- For us Romania is a pillar of resistance and the fiercest advocate on our European path. President Maia Sandu conveyed the message on Romania's National Day.

The official said that Romania is loved in Moldova for the constant help, but, above all, for the things that unite us - the language handed down with love by our parents, the history from which we learn many lessons of dignity and the culture that builds the strongest bridges.

"Romania is loved here for what it does, but mostly for what it is. And I know that Moldova is loved in Romania too. Romania, over the years, has loved us unconditionally, without expecting benefits. It gave us light, when we needed it the most, it helps us to modernize the localities, to save the lives of the citizens on the left bank of the Prut through the SMURD emergency medical service, it gave us first aid during the pandemic crisis. And not only the long list of aid offered makes us deeply grateful, but also our confidence that we can always count on Romania", Maia Sandu said.

The president said that Romania is a pillar of resistance for our country and is the fiercest advocate on our European path. "We look at it with hope when we are in need and as a benchmark in our aspirations for EU membership. And Romania looks at us with confidence that we will succeed in the chosen path. We are bound by the past, but even more so by the future. We are bound by the desire to build a just and good society for all our citizens, to become stronger together. Our path is common - our place is together in the European Union. We know Romania is with us - and this helps us to have confidence in the future, no matter how great the trials we go through", said Maia Sandu.

Today is Romania's National Day. December 1 marks the 105th anniversary of the Union of Transylvania, Banat, Crișana and Maramureș with Romania.
