Moldovan parliament speaker has meeting with new Ambassador of United Kingdom

Chisinau, 8 December /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with new Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Moldova Fern Marion Horine, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.  

During the discussions, the officials exchanged opinions on the situation in the region and reviewed the progress made by the parliament in the carrying out of the European Commission’s recommendations. ‘’We are to approve a plan on de-oligarchization – a thing established at the 7 December meeting of the National Commission for European Integration,’’ the parliament speaker said.   

Among the subjects approached at the meeting, there were the local elections from the last autumn. ‘’Most electors voted for European mayors, even if we worked in a difficult campaign, with an unprecedented interference on behalf of a foreign country with our internal affairs, with dirty money and with propaganda which spread distrust in the society,’’ Igor Grosu said.  

The officials agreed on boosting the bilateral cooperation in such sectors as combating the economic crime, fight against corruption, fighting the propaganda and consolidation of the security. The parliament speaker stressed that the United Kingdom’s expertise was important and Moldova further relied on assistance in the working out of opinions and recommendations for draft laws.
