Moldovan speaker attends international conference in Sinaia

Chisinau, 14 Dec. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu jointly with his counterpart, Nicolae Ciucă, President of the Romanian Senate were the main speakers of an international conference - Reconstruction of Ukraine and Romania's strategic role, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

In his speech, Grosu talked about how the Republic of Moldova and Romania can get involved together to take part in this important regional project. He reminded how, from the first day of the war, the Republic of Moldova showed that it cares about the fate of Ukrainian neighbors, by opening their homes and hearts, and later, at the infrastructure level, by creating bridges between Ukraine and the EU.

He also said that the forum is taking place in the week when both the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine hope to open the accession negotiations to the European Union. "Our accession to the European Union is a natural will, it is, in fact, the return of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the European space, from where we were torn by an Empire, it is not just a political choice, it is the will of our peoples. We hope that the 27 states will adopt this decision, sooner or later, so that our European path becomes irreversible", said Grosu.

The speaker also referred to the historical role played by Romania during the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, to the important aid over the years. 

Grosu is participating in the international conference -Reconstruction of Ukraine and Romania's strategic role on December 13-14 in Sinaia. The meeting is the largest conference in Romania dedicated to this topic and brings together officials from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and other EU and NATO states, independent experts, representatives of the business environment, and the diplomatic staff. The forum, organized by the New Strategy Center, a Romanian think tank specialized in foreign, defense and security policy, aims to debate many issues on reconstruction process of Ukraine and the strategic role that Romania must play in this context.
