Moldovan president informs about completion of afforestation campaign for 2023 year

Chisinau, 21 December /MOLDPRES/ - The head of state informs that more than 7,000 hectares of lands have been planted and rehabilitated this year, with 24 million trees planted. This is a double result against the last three years, when about 3,600 hectares were planted in one year, the presidential press service has reported.   

„I am happy to see children, parents and grandparents, almost 12,000 people in all, who gave a helping hand for turning Moldova into a greener and cleaner country. To have a sounder environment, clean water in wells and rivers and a fertile soil, we must increase the area of woods in continuation, by at least 145,000 hectares in the next decade,’’ President Maia Sandu said.     

At the end of the afforestation season, the head of state on 20 December had a meeting with more forestry employees. President Maia Sandu thanked them for the effort made within the national programme on afforestation. Also, the head of state expressed gratitude to all volunteers who had participated in the afforestation campaign. ‘’We proved, once again, than we can mobilize and make nice things which are to serve the entire community. I urge you, in continuation, to everybody participate in greening actions and to be part of the #forestgeneration,’’ President Maia Sandu added.
