Moldovan deputy premier: In 2023, we promoted economic reforms our country needs

Chisinau, Dec. 26 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba today presented the results of the activity for 2023 of the institution.

"We had a year full of reforms. We promoted the economic reforms that our country needs. Only a strong economy is able to support our citizens' needs for a better life, and to build a strong economy we must support entrepreneurs to launch new businesses and create new jobs. We set our goal to make the Republic of Moldova the most business-friendly country in the region. We want to have a favorable economic environment, in which entrepreneurs can build freely", Dumitru Alaiba said.

According to the official, at the end of this year, about 50 percent of public services for entrepreneurs were digitized. 

"The most serious reduction in the reporting burden was initiated this year. From 92 reports requested by the State Fiscal Service and the National Bureau of Statistics, already from 2024 we are eliminating 15 of them, digitizing another nine and optimizing another 14," said Alaiba.

At the same time, during this year, grants totaling 260 million lei were awarded. "We launched the 373 Program through which we helped several companies invest in safe and predictable conditions. Currently, the value of investments through Program 373 is over 650 million lei, and the beneficiaries of the program have increased the number of jobs by over 20%", he said.

Among other actions implemented in 2023 are the signing of the roaming Agreement with the EU, the signing of the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU single market program, the completion of the accession to the digital Europe program, the signing of the Free Trade Agreement with the EFTA countries, the extension of liberalized trade with the EU and Great Britain, the implementation of the SRL reform and the self-employment reform.

Alaiba assured that in 2024, the "effort to reduce bureaucracy" will be continued.
