Import of cereals to Moldova to be subjected to licencing in next three months too

Chisinau, 28 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE) on 27 December instructed the establishment of the measure of licencing the imports for some cereal products and oily seeds, in line with the provisions of the legislation. Thus, the import of wheat, maize and sunflower seeds (including smashed ones) will be allowed only based on a licence, in the next three months.      

The applications on the issuance of the licences of import are considered by a commission made up of representatives of the Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA), Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry, National Food Safety Agency, as well as representatives of the professional organizations according to product.    

„The measure was taken, in order to stabilize the prizes for cereals and protect the local producers. Thus, an opportunity is created for our producers to sell the harvest deposited and get competitive advantages. Only the legal entities or private people who carry out economic activities in the field of production of vegetable oil and fats, mill’s products, preparations for feeding farm animals and for breeding animals will have right to receive import licences,’’ MAIA said.      

The application on the issuance of the import licence should be compulsorily accompanied by acts which justify the need to fill the stocks, the quoted source added.
