Moldovan wrestler starts 2024 at top of world rankings

Chisinau, 15 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Wrestler Anastasia Nichita started 2024 at the top of the world rankings, in the weight category up to 57 kg.

According to the International Wrestling Federation's website, the Moldovan athlete leads the world ranking with a total of 47,200 points. She is followed in the ranking in this weight category by Japanese Tsugumi Sakurai, who has 45,000 points and Polish Anhelina Lysak with 33,200 points.

Anastasia Nichita's first medal this year was at the Ranking Series International Wrestling Tournament in Zagreb, Croatia, where she won bronze medal.

Anastasia Nichita was designated by the Ministry of Education and Research as the best athlete of 2023. At the same time, the young woman became the first representative of the Republic of Moldova, qualified in the wrestling event, at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris.
