Moldovan foreign affairs ministry issues alert of travel to Iceland

Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today issued an alert of travel to Iceland, after a new volcano eruption had taken place to the north of Grindavik.
According to MAEIE, before the eruption, over 200 weak earthquakes were recorded on last Sunday early in the morning. The Icelandic coast guard localized the eruption to the south from Hagafjell. The last eruption took place along a string of volcanoes on the Reykjanes peninsula. The air traffic to and from Iceland was not disturbed.
In the context, Moldovan citizens are urged to verify the weather warnings before planning their travels and the availability of the alternative movement routes.
