Moldovan foreign affairs minister in Brussels says leadership makes huge steps to firmly anchor Moldova in European area

Chisinau, 18 January /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with the director general of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert-Jan Koopman, during his visit to Brussels. The Moldovan diplomacy head thanked the EU official for the every support provided in the process of getting the positive decision on the launch of the negotiations on accession with Moldova, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The officials discussed the steps needed in order to start the negotiations, including the beginning of the ‘’screening’’ process, which consists in the evaluation of the national legislation in comparison with the European Union’s acquis.
During this visit, Foreign Affairs Minister Nicu Popescu exchanged opinions with Secretary General of the European External Service Action Stefano Sannino on the further deepening of the dialogue with the European Union on the dimension of politics and security. The Moldovan official had meetings with Simon Mordue and Magdalena Grono, advisers on foreign policy of European Council President Charles Michel.
