General Police Inspectorate receives more vehicles, technical equipment donated by Germany's Embassy in Moldova

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The General Police Inspectorate (IGP) today received more vehicles and a consignment of technical equipment donated by the Embassy of Germany in Moldova.
The donation contains 32 Dacia Duster automobiles, 24 Skoda Octavia vehicles, 20 PICAR smart systems, which are to be set on patrol cars, 587 computer units, special equipment for investigation and intervention, as well as equipment for the mapping of traffic accidents.
At the event on the delivery of the donation, IGP head Viorel Cernauteanu thanked the foreign partners for support. ‘’I am grateful to the German authorities and the GS Foundation partners for providing us with continuous support in the process of implementation of the European standards in the activity of the police. I want to say that the PICAR smart systems represents an innovation for the National Police, which will enhance the traffic safety,’’ Cernauteanu said.
IGP benefited from the donation, in the context of a memorandum of understanding concluded between the Global Security Sector Reform Foundation and the Interior Ministry on cooperation, in order to improve the activity and the working conditions of the policemen, as well as to strengthen the institutional capacities to the emerging security threats. The overall value of the assets purchased is of 3.8 million euros.
