Last year, parliamentary committees approved about 2,000 reports, opinions

Chisinau, 25 Jan. /MOLDPRES/-Past year, the 11 standing committees of the Parliament convened in 436 meetings. MPs approved 859 reports and joint reports and 1,107 opinions.
According to the parliament's communication and public relations department, most meetings were organized by the legal committee on rules and immunities - 67. The Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee convened in 51 meetings, and the National Security, Defense and Public Order Committee and the economy, budget and finance held 50 meetings each.
At the same time, most reports and joint reports (248) were approved at the meetings of the Economy, Budget and Finance Commission. Deputies from the Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee approved 74 reports and 82 joint reports, and the members of the legal committee on rules and immunities - 151 reports and joint reports. Most opinions were examined by the Public Administration and Regional Development Committee - 203 opinions, by the National Security, Defense and Public Order Committee - 178 and by the Social Protection, Health and Family Committee - 169 opinions.
Standing committees are working bodies of the Parliament that are elected for the entire duration of the legislature, and their nominal composition is established taking into account the proportional representation of the factions in the Parliament. The commissions examine draft acts and legislative proposals in order to prepare reports or opinions, carry out parliamentary investigations, debate and decide on other issues, including at the request of speaker or vice-presidents.
