Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated in a rally on commemorating the victims of the Holocaust, organized on the square of the Monument, Victims of the Fascism, from the Moldovan capital. At the ceremony, the head of state paid homage to the millions of people who had suffered in the wake of the atrocities committed, the presidential press service has reported.

„We today pay a pious homage to those who suffered and we renew our commitment that we will spare no effort in edifying a society based on mutual respect, understanding, empathy and diversity, just as we must be and firmer in combating any anti-Semitic, xenophobe, racist or discriminatory manifestation of any kind,’’ President Maia Sandu said.

The head of state stressed that, for Moldova, the tragedy of the Jewish people, of the Romanies and all the others who had suffered in this country during the Holocaust was and would always be a deep wound.
