Moldovan capital hosts event dedicated to professional day of local autonomy, local public administration employees

Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/ - About 2,000 representatives of the local public administration (APL) participated in an event organized by the government today, on the occasion of the professional day of the local autonomy and APL employee, the government’s communication department has reported.   

The event titled, European Future – Local Welfare, brought together the Moldovan leadership, mayors, deputy mayors, secretaries of councils, district heads and representatives of the diplomatic corps. They referred to the importance of consolidating the efforts for the country’s transformation and fulfillment of Moldova’s European integration way.    

In her speech, President Maia Sandu appreciated the contribution of the local public administration to the country’s European integration. ‘’Our common goal is to transform the entire Moldova – village after village, city after city – into a European country, where the people live in peace and safety. The accession to EU is the project of our generation and each of us has an important role in its fulfillment,’’ the head of state said.    

For his part, Prime Minister Dorin Recean touched upon the actions undertaken by the government, in order to modernize the settlements and improve the living conditions for the people from all over the country. In this respect, the PM referred to the European Village Programme and those 542 projects already implemented within the latter. According to the prime minister, the cabinet announced the registration for the next round of projects and the emphasis, this year, will be put on the projects concerning water and sewerage. ‘’We will do our utmost for our citizens to feel at home as in the EU member countries,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.      

Also, the PM stressed that the government had approved the National Development Plan, which includes 155 projects for villages and cities, the connection of 190 settlements to drinking water systems, construction of over 200 km of power lines and the implementation of about 80 irrigation systems. Also during the event, the prime minister informed about the facilitation of the cadastral procedures for the local public authorities. Starting from 1 February this year, the cadaster will serve the authorities of the first and second levels at the headquarters of the cadastral bodies in the area of work.    

„Now, we know exactly what the European model of development of villages and cities means for us. We have a strategic objective – the integration into the European Union and it is for the first time when the accession to EU is no longer something abstract or uncertain. I urge you to be a united and consolidated team, in order to enhance, together, the well-being of the citizens for whom we are responsible,’’ PM Dorin Recean added.
