Representatives of Moldova, Ukraine approach developments on Transnistrian case

Chisinau, 29 Jan. /MOLDPRES/- Following an invitation of Chisinau, on January 29, a working meeting was held between Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian and Ambassador-at-large of Ukraine Paun Rohovei, accompanied by Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Shevchenko, the Reintegration Policy Office has reported.
The officials reviewed the developments on the Transnistrian case, the Moldovan authorities' steps to economically and socially reintegrate the Transnistrian region, as well as some current issues on the bilateral agenda of the Moldovan-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
Ukraine's firm support for achieving the central goal of the final settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, exclusively by peaceful means while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country was approached.
The sides said that the opening of accession negotiations to the European Union for the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine offers multiple opportunities, including in the territorial and sectoral reintegration policies of both countries.
Regional security issues were also addressed. Any attempts at artificially generated provocations in the eastern districts of the country will receive the appropriate reactions to avoid outbreaks of tension and maintain an atmosphere of safety and predictability.
