National Motor Transport Agency of Moldova to get international anti-bribery certificate

Chisinau, 30 January /MOLDPRES/ - The National Motor Transport Agency (ANTA) is the first authority of control and issuing permissive acts from Moldova which started the implementation of the ISO 37001 Anti-bribery Certification. This will allow the Agency reducing the corruption risk and enhancing the degree of confidence on behalf of the partners in its management system.  

This occurred after representative of ANTA, Standardization Institute of Moldova, Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity Programme (MISRA) of the U.S. Agency for International Development, had signed a memorandum of understanding on the duties of three institutions in the process of ANTA’s anti-bribery international certification, in the presence of the state secretary in the transports sector, Mircea Pascaluta, and the state secretary of the Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry, Cristina Ceban.    

„At the Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry, our priority is to provide everybody with qualitative road transport and the implementation of the anti-bribery standard represents an important step, which will enhance the confidence of the citizens and the foreign partners, when it comes to the services provided by ANTA. I welcome this cooperation and I urge ANTA to display all openness for the implementation of this system. The support provided by USAID through the MISRA Programme is a proof of the fact that all actions started jointly with foreign partners yield fruits and we have nothing left but  continue developing the systems of internal management, due to ensure the good work of all processes,’’ Mircea Pascaluta said.       

The anti-bribery management system is based on a string of measures and means of control; it comprises requirements as to the policy and procedures anti-bribery, the commitment and responsibility of the leadership, the training and verification of the staff’s knowledge, the periodical assessment of the risk of bribery, the anti-bribery control measures, reporting, monitoring and investigation, etc.     

Following the implementation, ANTA will be certified for the meeting of the rigours of the anti-bribery standard by accredited independent experts, who will periodically verify the compliance, in order to keep the validity of the certificate. The ANTA experience of implementation of the ISO 37001 Anti-bribery standards and the good practices of anti-bribery management will be replicated by other public authorities with duties of control and the ones issuing permissive acts. There are about 40 institutions of control of issuing permissive acts in Moldova.
