Moldovan government allocates over 4.8 million lei for maintaining centres of temporary placement for refugees

Chisinau, 31 January /MOLDPRES/ - A sum of 4.8 million lei will be allocated from the reserve fund for covering the expenses dealing with the maintenance and work of the centres of temporary placement for refugees, for December 2023. The cabinet approved a decision to this effect today.
According to the government’s communication department, over two million lei will be allocated to the local public administration authorities of the second level and 438,000 lei - to local public administration authorities of the first level.
At the same time, 2.3 million lei will be transferred to the Labour and Social Protection Ministry (MMPS) for covering the costs for the maintenance of the centres of temporary placement, set up by public institutions, state enterprises, by businesses where the state holds a majority stake and by non-commercial organizations. At the same time, over 53,000 lei will be redirected to cover the costs for the maintenance of the centre of temporary placement for refugees, created by the administrative authority subordinated to MMPS.
After the expiration of the emergency state on 31 December 2023, the mechanism of allocation of financial resources to the centres of temporary placement is no longer available. Thus, it was necessary to provide financial allocations from the government’s reserve fund, in order to cover the expenses for last December.
