Moldovan policemen carry out Pedestrian operation

Chisinau, 9 February /MOLDPRES/ - Policemen on 12-14 February will carry out activities all over Moldova, aimed at cutting the number of traffic accidents with the involvement of pedestrians.
According to the General Police Inspectorate, at present, the failure to give legal priority to pedestrians is sanctioned with fine worth from 1,500 to 1,800 lei (about 90 euros), with the imposing of five penalty points. If the actions are committed repeatedly during the same year, the person is sanctioned with fine from 2,250 to 2,500 lei, with the suspension of the right to drive vehicles for a period from 30 to 45 days.
At the same time, the pedestrians who ignore the signs of managing the road traffic, irregularly cross the roadway or move in banned places are fined with up to 450 lei.
Fifty two traffic accidents with the involvement of pedestrians were registered in Moldova in last January, in the wake of which 11 people died and 42 were injured.
