Moldovan president participates in Gala of Prizes for Environmental Journalism

Chisinau, 12 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today congratulated the journalists who had been awarded prizes at the Gala of Prizes for Environmental Journalism. She highlighted the important role they played in the promotion of a clean and sound environment, the presidential press service has reported.    

The head of state expressed appreciation for the journalists who cover subjects in the environment field fairly and professionally. At the same time, the Moldovan president thanked the mass media representatives for the way they had publicized the National Afforestation Programme and urged them, this year too, to register in the new afforestation campaign, which will be launched next spring.    

Also, Maia Sandu stressed the importance of the environmental journalism in the context of Moldova’s European integration. The head of state noted that the implementation of the EU’s environmental policy implied the adoption of strict rigours in such sectors as the waste management, as well as efficient measures for the protection of the drinking water, soil and air.
