Chisinau, 14 February /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament will take note of the application on resignation by Ludmila Lupasco from the position of member of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC). A draft decision which stipulates this today was considered by the parliamentary juridical commission for appointments and immunities.

Ludmila Lupasco asked for the acceptance of the resignation from the office of CEC member starting from 12 February 2024, reasoning that she establishes her residence abroad.

The Central Electoral Commission is a collegial body made up of seven members. Four of them are appointed by the parliament and by one - by Moldova’s president, the Superior Council of Magistracy and the government, at a proposal by the Interior Ministry. Under the legislation, if the mandate of a CEC member is finished, the authority who nominated him/her appoints a new member of the Central Electoral Commission.
