Chisinau, February 15 /MOLDPRES/- At the beginning of today's plenary session, MPs held a minute of silence in memory of the soldiers killed in the war in Afghanistan.
Speaker Igor Grosu expressed gratitude to those who survived the war, thanking them for the courage they showed and for the support they give to society every day.
"We commemorate those 301 young people who never returned to their homeland. We are with all those who survived this war and returned home, built their families, we are also with the families of all those who participated in this war," he said.
Grosu together with a group of deputies laid flowers in memory of those who lost their lives in the war in Afghanistan.
Today we mark 35 years since the withdrawal of Soviet military troops from Afghanistan. Almost 13 thousand Moldovans participated in that war, and 301 died.
