Moldovan parliament adopts new law on state border

Chisinau, 15 February /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted the draft of the new law on the state border of Moldova. 

The draft shows the exposition of the present Law on the state border of Moldova in a new version. At the same time, the document sees the transposition of European Union’s regulations in Moldova’s legislation.

Thus, the authors proposed to revise some provisions, with the goal to remove the deficiencies, ambiguities, as well as to optimize the work of the border policemen. At the same time, the document’s aim is to ensure the principle of accessibility and predictability of the legal norms for the citizens. Another provision regards the issuance of permits, authorizations or notices in electronic format.      

The draft of the new law also contains provisions on the development of the concept of integrated management of the state border. Their need appeared in 2022, when Moldova received a large number of Ukrainian refugees. Respectively, the new chapter will contain norms which regulate the cooperation between the authorities involved in the system of management of the state border: Intelligence and Security Service, General Inspectorate for Migration, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Labour and Social Protection Ministry, as well as the local public authorities.
