Cardiology Institute endowed with most advanced computerized tomograph of Moldova

Chisinau, 16 February /MOLDPRES/ - An advanced computerized tomograph has been put into operation at the Cardiology Institute. The equipment is endowed with a system of artificial intelligence and is the only device of this kind from the public medical institutions of Moldova.
According to the Health Ministry, the equipment allows the investigation of the cardiovascular diseases, meeting the most difficult requirements in the imagistic diagnosis of the heart diseases, as well as facilitating the carrying out of cardiovascular surgical interventions, as a result of the diagnose accurately established. This device reduces the dose of radiation by up to 80 per cent as compared to the conventional tomographs.
According to the quoted source, Moldova is among the few countries of the Eastern Europe region which is endowed with such a highly advanced tomograph. The apparatus was purchased with the financial means envisaged for the implementation of the Health Component of the project, Emergency response to COVID-19 and support for micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, in accordance with the framework agreement on loan between Moldova and the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), in a total amount of 21.7 million lei.
The supply of the medical and sanitary institutions with computerized tomographs is part of the plan on the health system’s modernization.
