Moldovan president, representatives of European Business Association Moldova discuss subject on EU accession referendum

Chisinau, 20 February /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today discussed the referendum on Moldova’s accession to the European Union with the members of the council of the European Business Association (EBA) – an organization which promotes the trade and investments between Moldova and the Single European Market. EBA was founded against the background of negotiation of the Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between the European Union and Moldova, signed in June 2014.
According to the presidential press service, during the discussions, Maia Sandu said the current governance worked for a sound competition environment, where all play according to the same rules, as well as for an open, free and digital economy, prepared to be integrated into the EU single market. At the same time, the head of state urged the EBA representatives to join the authorities’ efforts to spread in the entire society the message that the European way was the only chance for Moldova’s transformation.
The consultations on the subject of the referendum will continue also in the weeks to come sand the plebiscite might be organized in autumn in 2024.
