USA announces sanctions against Marina Tauber

Chisinau, 23 February /MOLDPRES/ - The United States today announced sanctions against Marina Tauber.

The U.S. Embassy in Chisinau said that the sanctions had been imposed ‘’for the facilitation of attempts by the fugitive oligarch, Ilan Shor, to undermine the electoral processes in Moldova, in the Kremlin’s interests, by buying votes.’’

„Moldova’s citizens deserve democratic, free and correct institutions and processes. They deserve a future without the malignant influence of the Kremlin. The United States welcomes the progress made by Moldova in the implementation of the democratic and economic reforms. We will continue supporting the people and government of Moldova in the edification of a more democratic, prosperous and safer future,’’ Ambassador of the USA to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon said.
