Chisinau, 26 February /MOLDPRES/ - A painting exhibition titled, Centura Forestieră/Лісосмуга (The Forest Belt) by a Ukrainian fine artist, Serhiy Bozhko, has been inaugurated at the Bunker Gallery from Chisinau, in the context of the marking of two years since the starting of the war in the neighbour country. The exhibition will be opened till 10 March and the funds raised from the sale of paintings will be used on charity purposes.
The exhibition presents ten paintings which are part of two series of works, The Forest Belt, and The Occupants, made by the fine artist from Odessa in the last years.
Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Marko Shevchenko stressed that the exhibition. The Forest Belt, was an exhibition about the tragedy of the war. ‘’The forest belt represents the strategic places where there are the strongest military battles. Bozhko painted the war with a tint of irony and in this exhibition I understood that Odessa overcame the tragedy,’’ the Ambassador also said.
The exhibition’s curator, PhD in the study of arts Valeria Barbas said that the paintings by Serhiy Bozhko conveyed the fundamental conflicts of the ‘’Russian world’’ with the realities of Ukraine.
The artist’s paintings will be sold on charity purposes. Besides, quality reproductions can be purchased. The funds collected will be donated for backing the Ukrainian armed forces. The exhibition will be opened till 10 March and the entrance is for free.
Serhiy Bozhko was born in Odessa in 1985. He participated in national and international exhibitions. In 2010, he was laureate of the contest of young artists, organized by the Museum of Modern Art of Odessa. He is member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
