Superior Council of Prosecutors cancels contest on nomination of Moldova's Prosecutor General

Chisinau, 28 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), at the end of a today’s meeting, informed that it had cancelled the decision from 22 February on the results of the exam of interview at the contest for the selection of the candidacy for the office of Prosecutor General and ceased the contest.
Also today, the CSP members ruled to cease the contest initiated under the decision No 1-177/2023 from 23 October 2023 and extended the Decision 1-197/2023 from 24 November 2023, with the subsequent initiation of a new contest.
On 22 November, CSP ruled to put forward Octavian Iachimovschi following the interview examination, in order to be evaluated by the Vetting Commission within the contest for the office of prosecutor general.
The term of selecting the new prosecutor general expires in next March.
Following a decree signed by Moldova’s president on 26 September 2023, the position of Prosecutor General became vacant.
