Moldovan Intelligence and Security Service submits new portion of files to National Archives' Agency

Chisinau, 29 February /MOLDPRES/ - The Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) continues the actions of declassification of the files stocked at the institution’s special state warehouse and submitted a new portion of files to the National Archives’ Agency.
Thus, SIS delivered another 2,534 files from the period of the Soviet regime to the aforementioned Agency.
As many as 2,304 out of all files submitted are judicial files as to people who were subjected to political repressions on the period of the totalitarian regime, who passed the procedure of rehabilitation at the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG) and were subsequently declassified by the SIS departmental Commission. The 230 are administrative files on the activity of the NKVD (People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs)/KGB (Committee for State Security)/MGB (Ministry of State Security), as well as internal orders and instructions with data about the staff.
The process of handover-takeover took place today, based on the inter-institutional Agreement on cooperation, signed on 5 May 2023.
