Average monthly earnings increased by 17.3% in 2023

Chisinau, March 1. /MOLDPRES/- In 2023, the average gross monthly salary was 12,354.7 lei (about 636 euros), increasing by 17.3% in nominal value and in real terms – by 3.4% compared to 2022. The data were presented by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS).

At the same time, in the fourth quarter of 2023, the average gross monthly salary, in units in the real sector with four or more employees and in budget institutions, was 13,401 lei, increasing by 16.1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 and by 8.4% compared to the third quarter of 2023.

The most significant increases were recorded in health and social assistance, production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning, art, recreation and agreement activities.

The highest values of the average monthly salary gain, in the IV quarter of 2023, were recorded in the information and communications, financial and insurance activities, production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning. The lowest values of average monthly salary earnings were recorded in accommodation and catering, agriculture, forestry and fishing activities.
