Chisinau, 2 March /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and other officials have commemorated the heroes who fought for the defence of Moldova’s independence and integrity.
The officials laid flower wreaths at the Grieving Mother monument at the Eternity memorial complex. They also laid flowers at the memorial plaques of the heroes who had died for the defence of the Motherland and at the monument to Stephen the Great.
„This day is quite up-to-date, in the context of the events in our neighbourhood, Russia’s invasion in Ukraine. We, unfortunately, went through this experience, maybe at another scale. That is why we must speak about that grief, which still exists. We must commemorate them as long as it will be needed. We have veterans who experienced this tragedy, their relatives. I think that we understand, more than ever, how import the peace is. For this, we must do everything and we will do everything,’’ Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stressed.
The 32nd anniversary of the unleashing of the Transnistria War is marked today. On 2 March, the Day of Memory and Gratitude is marked in Moldova, in the memory of the heroes who died for the country’s independence and territorial integrity and in the honour of those who survived.
