Chisinau, March 5. /MOLDPRES/- Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) head Alexandru Musteata held a press conference today. He said that the institution has come into possession of several data on an unprecedented level of the intensity of the actions carried out by the Russian Federation.
The purpose of these actions of Russia "is to compromise the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU, to hijack the democratic processes and to keep the Republic of Moldova under its sphere of influence".
"The first stage of Russia's plan began in 2023, and now two stages are being attempted: we have information that attempts are being made to compromise the referendum for European integration, to interfere in the presidential elections, as well as to denigrate institutions and candidates policies that will promote EU accession. The next stage for 2025 is aimed at taking control over the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova", said Alexandru Musteata.
SIS head has previouslu said that Russia would have allocated over 1 billion lei to destabilize the Republic of Moldova. The money would have been earmarked for the implementation of a subversive scenario of foreign interference to remove democratic governance.
