International Women's Day marked in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 March /MOLDPRES/ - The International Women’s Day today is marked in Moldova, along with more states of the world.
To mark the International Women’s Day in 2024, the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality on 7 Match organized an inter-parliamentary meeting on the subject, Women in Sport. The participants in the event analyzed the problems faced by the women in sport, as well as the progress made in this sector, especially in the context of the forthcoming Paris Olympic Games. The host of the meeting was the president of the Committee on Women's Rights, Robert Biedroń, while European Parliament President Roberta Metsola took part through a video message.
The International Women’s Day is annually marked on 8 March, in order to highlight both the social, political achievements, the economic conditions of the women and the discrimination and violence, the presence of which is still felt in many parts of the world. The International Women’s Day was adopted under a resolution by the United Nations General Assembly in 1977.
The International Women’s Day is celebrated in 60 states and in some countries, the day of 8 March is declared day off.
