Chisinau, 12 March /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today commented on Moldova’s decision to express protest to Russia about the opening of polling stations in Transnistrian region of Moldova.
„Moldova always asks to be respected and accordingly, this means respect for the citizens of our country. The state acts where it can control the environment and accordingly, we will not allow infringements on the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities. As for the rest, just as I have said, the protest note was handed over to the Russian ambassador. And I repeatedly say: everybody must respect the state Republic of Moldova and through this, - the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
Ambassador of Russia to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov today was summoned at the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE). The protest was expressed to the ambassador about the opening of polling stations in the Transnistrian region, ‘’contrary to MAE’s request.’’ According to the ministry, „Russia defies the norms and principles of the international law and undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.’’
