Moldova, Romania continue cooperation on sustainable use of water resources from Prut, Danube rivers

Chisinau, 13 March /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers has approved the Protocol of the second extraordinary session of the inter-governmental hydro-technical commission for the enforcement of the Agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on cooperation for the sustainable protection and use of the waters of the Prut and Danube rivers.
The document regulates the construction of aqueducts, ensuring the ecological security, non-allowing of the negative influence on the environment, the sustainable and equitable use of the waters of the Prut and Danube rivers.
The results of the session of the inter-governmental hydro-technical commission from the Agreement were signaled in the Protocol of the session and will enter into force following their approval by both contracting sides.
The agreement provides the legal basis of the cooperation for the sustainable protection and use of the water resources, exploitation of the Costesti-Stanca on the Prut river, construction and exploitation of other hydro-technical works, as well as for establishing the organizational, institutional and economic conditions which create the framework for the economic, technical and scientific cooperation of the contracting sides.
