Chisinau, 14 March /MOLDPRES/ - The passengers who bought plane tickets from the companies which had entered insolvency will recover their money quicker. The parliament today voted a draft law to this effect in the second reading.
The document provides for the completion of the Law on insolvency with a new item, according to which the passengers who purchased plane tickets will be among the first to whom the money will be returned, when the company enters insolvency.
„The economic agents collect on bank accounts huge sums resulting from the sale of tickets for flights which fail, having debts to passengers. The 2023 year proved a negative tendency in terms of the number of petitions submitted by consumers from the civil aviation sector,’’ the draft’s informative note reads.
The draft law’s authors also say that, at present, there are over 28,000 citizens who did not receive their money back for purchasing the tickets from the Air Moldova Company. It is about 75,000 tickets worth about 9 million euros.
