Moldova to host Conference of Europe Region's Presidents of Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie

Chisinau, 16 March /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s parliament in early next week will host the Conference of Europe Region’s Presidents of the Parliamentary Assembly of the La Francophonie (APF). Tens of lawmakers from about 20 European countries will visit Moldova on 17-21 March, to participate in the meeting and discuss the actions of cooperation in the francophone area.
An APF regional delegate for Europe, Jean-Charles Luperto, Deputy Parliament Speaker Doina Gherman and Prime Minister Dorin Recean will give messages in the opening of the Conference. The president of the Moldovan section at APF, MP Marcela Adam will unveil a report on the present stage and the presence of the Francophonie in Moldova. At the same time, the deputy head of the Audiovisual Council, president of the Moldovan section of the International Francophone Press Union Aneta Gonta will refer to the fight against the misinformation. Guests Bruno Fuchs, a professor from Brussels Jean-Michel De Waele and a professor at the Sorbonne University, Vincent Couronne, will touch upon the evolution of the political situation in the francophone area, the impact of the war in Ukraine and the way EU reacts to the foreign interference.
The Conference of Europe Region’s Presidents of APF will be preceded by a seminar on consolidating the lawmakers’ capacities in the fight against the misinformation and fake news. MPs from the European francophone countries, lawmakers and employees of Moldova’s parliament will take part in the discussions. The latter will be focused on the phenomenon of misinformation in the francophone area, as well as the impact of the fake news on the parliamentary activity.
Under the agenda, the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie will visit to French Alliance in Moldova, the Francophone University Agency, the social centre for children and the ecological boarding house Vent d’Est from the Horodiste village, northern Rezina district.
Moldova’s parliament is associated member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the La Francophonie since 1998. APF is made up of sections, representing 70 parliaments from those five continents.
