Twenty fifth anniversary of Bilateral Cooperation Partnership between Moldova and U.S. North Carolina state marked in Chisinau

Chisinau, 18 March /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Mihai Popsoi, along with North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall presided over the anniversary meeting of the bilateral committee. The participants in the event appreciated the progress made in the fields of defence, education, humanitarian, medical sectors, which contributed to the development and extension of the concerned Partnership during those 25 years since its establishment (1999).
In particular, the Moldovan foreign affairs minister highlighted the valuable cooperation with the National Guard of North Carolina on the security and defence dimension. Due to it, Moldova benefited from assistance on behalf of the USA for reforming its defence sector, training Moldovan servicemen in specialized education institutions from the USA, endowment with equipment and exchange of experience.
„Traditionally, we agreed on the renewal of the Memorandum of principles and procedures between Moldova and North Carolina State, on the intention to consolidate the good relations between them. This fact confirms the commitment and the interest of the sides to ensure the continuity of the projects underway and, concomitantly, to advance and explore in continuation new dimensions of cooperation, such as the justice and public security fields, home affairs, economic and regional development, agriculture, information technology and communications, culture and tourism, environmental protection,’’ the Moldovan official said.
For her part, North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall appreciated the cooperation between Moldova and North Carolina, noting that this partnership was not only about projects implemented, but also about commitments, friendships and connections created between people. The North Carolina state will be, in continuation, development partner for Moldova in more fields, including, education, military, humanitarian and agricultural sectors.
