Chisinau, 20 March /MOLDPRES/ - The International Francophonie Day is marked today. On this occasion, President Maia Sandu has visited the Chisinau-based Gheorghe Asachi Theoretical Lyceum, which marks the 160th anniversary of its foundation on these days. The Gheorghe Asachi Theoretical Lyceum has most classes where subjects are taught in Romanian and French out of all schools from Moldova.
„I am happy to see children and young people who study the French language and, along with the latter, the values of the Francophonie as well: diversity, solidarity, cultural dialogue and the mutual respect. More than 98,000 study the French language at the education institutions from Moldova. This is a proof of our commitment of international cooperation and the dialogue with France – a great supporter of our country, and well as with the francophone world – a global community of 320 million of French-speaking people. Vive la Francophonie!,’’ the head of state said.
