Chisinau, 29 March /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov participated on 28 March in the conference Rethinking and reshaping: EU enlargement in times of war, organised in Paris by the European Council on Foreign Relations.
In her speech, the official spoke about Moldova's European path and stressed that the submission of the application for EU membership, the achievement of candidate country status and the opening of accession negotiations are historic events for the Republic of Moldova.
Gherasimov also spoke about the profound transformations our country is going through today and the ambitious reform agenda of the government, and noted that Chisinau authorities' goal is to speed up our European path.
She also voiced confidence that enlargement and reform of the European Union are processes that can run in parallel.
"Both the EU needs to reform to effectively cooperate with more members and the candidate countries need to strengthen their democracy at home in order to integrate successfully into the European community," Gherasimov said.
