Chisinau, April 1 /MOLDPRES/ - In the first two days of April, consumers in the Republic of Moldova (right bank of the Dniester River) will use gas from the United States of America, delivered through the Greek port Alexandroupolis. This is a test volume of liquefied natural gas (LNG) imported by Energocom from the Greek company DEPA.
"On Monday and Tuesday we will purchase 14 thousand MWh of natural gas each from Alexandroupolis. In total, there are about 28 thousand MWh, which is the equivalent of 2.6 million cubic meters of gas. These are gases needed for current consumption, and the price is competitive," said Victor Bînzari, acting director of Energocom SA.
Energocom started cooperation with DEPA in April 2023. Last year the Greek company won several public tenders for gas delivery to the Republic of Moldova, both for current consumption and storage in warehouses. On 30 November last year, Energocom and DEPA Commercial signed a Memorandum of Understanding expressing commitment to intensify cooperation in the supply of natural gas, including liquefied natural gas.
