Moldovan cabinet approves amount of prizes for performances at summer Olympic and Paralympic Games

Chisinau, April 3 /MOLDPRES/- Government will provide 3 million lei to athletes who win the gold medal at the Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer. The second and third place winners will receive 2.6 and 2 million lei, respectively, the government's communication department has reported.

The draft approved by the government stipulates that athletes who will be ranked IV and V will be paid 600 thousand lei. For the VI place, the prize will be 400 thousand lei, and those of the VII and VIII places will receive 300 thousand lei and 200 thousand lei respectively.

Prizes will also be awarded to coaches who have trained athletes over the last 4 years and to medical staff who have provided medical assistance for 4 years up to the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On 26 July - 11 August, the 33rd Summer Olympic Games and the 17th Paralympic Games will be held in Paris, France. Seven athletes from the Republic of Moldova have qualified for the current edition of the Olympic Games and 13 more are expected to qualify.
