Moldovan-Latvian military cooperation discussed in Riga

Chisinau, April 5 /MOLDPRES/ - Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii paid an official visit to Riga at the invitation of his Latvian counterpart Andris Sprūds. The officials discussed bilateral cooperation in the military sphere and prospects for its development, as well as support for the national army in implementing military reform and strengthening our country's defence capabilities.

The official thanked the Latvian side for the assistance in the European Union projects for Moldova through the European Peace Facility and the Defence Capabilities Initiative.

Another issue was the peacekeeping missions in Kosovo and Lebanon in which the Moldovan military is participating, "as well as the Republic of Moldova's goal to enhance contribution to international peace and security".

The two ministers also exchanged views on the regional security situation.

Nosatii was on an official visit to Riga, Latvia, on 3-4 April at the invitation of his counterpart Andris Sprūds.
