Deputy Prime Minister delivered public speech on Moldova's foreign policy priorities, importance of EU accession referendum

Chisinau, April 5 /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi today delivered a public speech at the International Free University of Moldova. He spoke about Moldova's foreign policy priorities and importance of the referendum on joining the European Union.
"We analysed with students the challenges and opportunities facing the Republic of Moldova in the foreign relations and discussed the role of Moldovan diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting our country's interests internationally," he said.
He also spoke about the referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union, an initiative launched by President Maia Sandu. "The referendum is a necessary, natural and logical step to reconfirm the will of the people and to ensure long-term peace and welfare, law and salaries in the Republic of Moldova, as it is in European countries. I was glad to hear that young people are interested in the European transformation of the Republic of Moldova and are ready to contribute to the development of our country," he said.
Maia Sandu launched the initiative to hold a referendum on Moldova's accession to the European Union. It could be held this autumn.
