Chisinau, April 6 /MOLDPRES/- Over four years, Moldova's exports of services have doubled in volume, and in 2023 the figure for services exports reached $2.4 billion. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitisation Dumitru Alaiba unveiled the data.
"This already means tens of thousands of well-paid jobs here at home. When we say we are building a service-based economy, this is what we have in mind. We have competitive advantages that we are using," Alaiba said.
According to him, services exports currently account for 42% of Moldova's total exports, and in the next few years we are set to pass 50%. "We are talking about transport, travel, telecommunications and IT services, raw material processing and business services. And most importantly, we export more services than we import," he said.
