Chisinau, April 6 /MOLDPRES/- At the launch event of the Population and Housing Census, Prime Minister Dorin Recean urged all citizens to attend the national exercise, which will be held on 8 April -7 July. He noted that the data collected during the census are necessary for the implementation of social development and infrastructure projects, the government's communication department has reported.
"The collected information will help us better design infrastructure, modernize education, improve social and health services, as well as ensure more effective planning of our daily lives. The government is building more and more, and the census data will help us build a smart Europe at home," he said.
The census takes place every 10 years. Under the Population and Housing Census Law, participation in the census is compulsory.
"I urge you to answer the questions of the more than 4,000 census takers who will be knocking on doors across the country during this period, and to encourage your family, friends and neighbours to do the same. We cannot move forward until we all decide as a family what our priorities are," he said.
The 2024 Population and Housing Census is conducted by the National Statistics Bureau with the support of the Government of Moldova, the European Union and the UN Population Fund.
