Moldovan, Swiss officials approach cooperation

Chisinau, April 8 /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan diplomacy head Mihai Popsoi has met Swiss Ambassador to Moldova Felix Baumann.

The officials welcomed the upward dynamics of the bilateral dialogue strengthened through regular high-level visits, appreciating the important support Switzerland provides for the development of our country in areas such as health, good governance and economic resilience. In this context, the attention that the Swiss side will continue to pay to the Republic of Moldova in its foreign policy in the bilateral, regional and multilateral context was underlined.

The meeting provided an opportunity to review the main achievements in Moldovan-Swiss cooperation and to outline the priorities for the immediate period ahead, including: the ratification and entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EFTA member states (Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland) and its benefits for attracting investment and increasing trade between the two countries, the signing of the Agreement on Social Security, the holding of political consultations between foreign ministries, as well as the strengthening of economic and sectoral cooperation through the organisation of the joint intergovernmental committee meeting during the year.
