Chisinau, April 11 /MOLDPRES/- European Union has participated in the negotiation processes on the Transnistrian issue for years, but now the emphasis is totally different with the outbreak of war on the territory of Ukraine. As we want a new EU member that is both secure and stable, addressing frozen conflict resolution issues is on our agenda in supporting Moldova's security and resilience. The statements were made by EU Special Representative for the Transnistrian settlement negotiation process Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga, who participated today in the first Moldova Reintegration Forum in Chisinau.
"In recent years this support has increased amazingly. We are much more actively supporting the Republic of Moldova in ensuring security and resilience, and not only in the context of the war in Ukraine, but also in the context of the destabilisation attempts that are repeatedly being made inside Moldova. Your country has been through several crises, I do not need to list them, but you have successfully passed through them, including with the support of the European Union. We believe that the authorities in Chisinau have successfully managed to face the challenges", Dorota Dlouchy-Suliga said.
Attending the event, Kent D. Logsdon, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Moldova, "reconfirmed US support for reintegration and preservation of sovereignty". "Even if this conflict is frozen for the moment, we participate in the negotiation processes, we appreciate the OSCE mission and we support the removal of Russian troops from the territory of the Republic of Moldova. In 30 years we have witnessed disinformation, we have seen corrupt leaders undermining Moldova's future, but we believe in your country's prosperity, which will find its place in the family of the European community," said Kent D. Logsdon.
Around one hundred participants, representatives of public authorities, civil society, research centres, international organisations and diplomatic missions, took part in the First Reintegration Forum of the Republic of Moldova, organised today in Chisinau by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE), Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Moldova and the Reintegration Policy Office, in cooperation with Expert-Grup and Promo-LEX Association.
